Discussing Desert Queen by Janet Wallach.  This is the story of Gertrude Bell, who explored, mapped, and excavated the Arab world throughout the early twentieth century. Bell played a major role in creating the modern Middle East after World War I ended and was, at that time, considered the most powerful woman in the British Empire. Leading the discussion is John Rusnock. Registration is requested.
