***IMPORTANT CHANGE***

This program is rescheduled to TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, due to the weather forecast of a wintry mix of precipitation Tuesday, December 2.

Retail shopping has changed over the years, but in the 1950s most major cities had a landmark department store. In Hartford, Connecticut it was G. Fox & Co. Return to the store's heydey as we go from floor to floor with presenter Natalie Belanger, Public Programs Manager, Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. Learn about Beatrice Fox Auerbach, the remarkable woman who expanded business ten-fold, instituted innovative sales practices, and established pioneering labor reforms.

Sponsored by The Friends of the Granby Public Libraries and Salmon Brook Historical Society.

About the presenter:

Natalie Belanger is the Public Programs Manager at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. She holds a B.A. in history from Smith College and an M.A. in women's history from the University of Maryland. Natalie has worked in museum education for most of her career, and teaches history courses at Manchester Community College.
