The year 2025 is the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This also marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which occurred on August 6 and August 9, 1945. Origami cranes stand as a symbol and wish for peace. The act of folding one crane represents a wish for good fortune. According to Japanese legend, the act of folding 1000 cranes - senbazuru - grants the folder a wish or a promise to recover from injury.
Learn how to fold a paper crane and hear about the story of Sadako Sasaki. All materials are provided and there is no fee to attend.
Sponsored by The Friends of the Granby Public Libraries.
