Program Description

Event Details

Granby Conservation Commission member David Desiderato shares important information about the jumping worm. Learn how to identify this non-native, invasive species that is voraciously consuming organic matter, degrading soil structure, and leaving it prone to erosion. Unlike the familiar earthworm or nightcrawler, these worms reduce native plant and microbial populations, alter soil chemistry, and can increase the spread of invasive plants.

Learn how to identify jumping worms and methods to remove them. Additional resources will be available from the Connecticut Agricultural Extension Service. Register to attend.

Sponsored by Granby Public Library, Granby Land Trust, and Granby Conservation Commission.
